SN 79 is a FN 1910. See' The FN Browning Pistol 'expanded 2nd edition by Anthony Vanderlinde, pages 212 &213. This is a very rare pistol. The frame is correct.

T200 C=Hi Power 1976-1997 In 1975 Browning standardized its serial number identification which it followed until 1998. Hi Power Type 2W5=40 S&W 245=9mm 2. Date of Manufacture is a two digit code Z=1 Y=2 X=3 W=4 V=5 T=6 R=7 P=8 N=9 M=0 3. Serial Number beginning with 01001 at the start of each year. The left front of the trigger guard is marked “4”. The right side of the frame is marked “644847”. The barrel is marked with a Liege proof and “Cal. Barrel Length: 3 3/8” Sights / Optics: The front sight is a very small blade in the middle of a serrated shallow “U” channel that runs along the top of the slide.

The rear sight is a small “U” groove at the back of the slide. Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are checkered black plastic marked “Browning” in an oval at the top of each side.

The grips show light handling marks with two larger marks at the front of the left grip. The checkering shows slight wear with small mar in both grips. The grips rate in about Fine overall condition.

Type of Finish: Blue Finish Originality: All Original Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp and deep. There is no erosion in the bore. Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 92% of its metal finish. The front edge of the slide shows compression marks on both sides with slight disfiguration in the serrations of the locking ring.

Both sides of the slide show marks through the finish and the edges of the left side show thinning. The trigger guard shows marks through the finish. The front strap, back strap and grip safety show handling marks and the grip safety has developed a plum colored patina. The serrations on the left side of the slide show tiny compression marks and the safety shows thinning. The grip screw shows marks of a screwdriver.

The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in about Excellent condition. Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The pistol has a frame mounted safety as well as a grip safety and a magazine disconnect. We did not fire this handgun. Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with a blued 6-round magazine.

It shows only minor marks, and is marked “FN / 9M/M” on the right side. It is in Excellent condition. Our Assessment: This is a Browning Model 55 pistol in.380 ACP which is the same as the FN Model 1910. It was produced by FN from 1912 to 1983, but only imported by Browning from 1955 to 1968, when importation ceased after the Gun Control Act of 1968. This pistol is in Fine condition with only a few marks. The bore is in great condition and the pistol has a grip as well as a frame mounted safety.

This will make a nice little carry gun and although the safety is close to the frame, it is easily wiped-off with the right thumb.
